Continental Drift Theory

Theory given by Alfred Wegner.
Movement of continents
Single landmass called Pangaea ,during carboniferous period.

Evidence in support of theory
Similarity between both coast of Atlantic ocean
Same age of rocks of different continent
Similarity between east coast of south America and west coast of Africa
Distribution of flora all over world proves united landmass.

Three layers of earth-Wegner
SIAL = Continent layer
SIMA = Oceanic layer
NIFE
SIAL layer float over SIMA layer without any resistance

Limitation of theory

1. Moving continent driving force
Reason gravitation pull of sun and moon

2. SIAL layer float over SIMA without resistance
But later on Wagner said
Frontal Edge mountains of the continent formed due to resistance of SIMA

3. Both coast of Atlantic Ocean can not be completely refitted
